South Korea’s main carmakers Hyundai Motor and Kia mentioned on Wednesday that they’ve inked a strategic partnership with the German automotive chipmaker Infineon Applied sciences AG, in order to safe its energy semiconductor provide chain.
Beneath the deal, sealed in Munich, Germany, the businesses will cooperate in creating energy semiconductors, a key element for eco-friendly vehicles to regulate and convert electrical energy, in line with the South Korean firms, reviews Yonhap information company.
Hyundai and Kia may even supply a portion of their energy semiconductors from Infineon for the manufacturing of electrical and hybrid autos via 2030, they added.
Infineon is a world chief within the automotive chip market, with a product portfolio that features automotive microcontrollers, energy semiconductors and sensors.
Hyundai and Kia have been working with the German firm because the early 2000s.
